These days, almost every business needs to create written content in one form or another.

From blog posts to YouTube video descriptions, the list is endless.

Basically, you could have the best, most most engaging and interesting idea but if you don’t carve them out with the right words it could still get lost in the noise.

So as a part of our endeavour to help your business grow, let’s discuss 10 writing hacks to help you create the right content now and get that attention you and your brand deserve.

01. Use Headings

Break your writing into headings and, when necessary, create subheadings and even nest the subheadings.

Typically, your heading contains more than 300 words then you should consider breaking it into two or more headings or creating a subheading.

02. Be Active

Use active verbs instead of passive verbs. Active verbs put life into your writing.

Too many passive verbs can make your writing dull and boring to your readers.

03. Give Examples

Use examples to illuminate your writing. Remember how your brain breathes a sigh of relief when you see "for example" in a write-up?

In addition, examples also serve as proof of your experience and expertise especially if they’re examples your audience can relate with.

04. “You” is awesome

Use the word "you" frequently especially when it’s a "how to" article. It creates a direct connection between you and your reader.

05. Break it down

Try to explain only one point at a time. In fact, no paragraph should explain more than one point.

06. Use a template

Use a template. Yes, there are templates for writing.

Templates save time and produce better results.

07. Avoid Keyword Obesity

If you’re a seo writer, ensure that you use your keyword once in every 150-200 words.

Many novice writers are fond of squeezing their keywords into every paragraph of their writing. This doesn’t only piss off their readers but it also pisses off search engines.

Humans want to see a logical writing that it’s parts blend seamlessly into one another. Search engines, on the other hand, have become a lot smarter. They only need a few keywords to decipher the relevance of your article to its topic. They don’t really use the keyword density to rank articles anymore.

08. Get Visual

Use relevant images and illustrations to add more clarity.

09. Short and Sweet

Avoid lengthy paragraphs. They bore your reader.

However, it's good practice to insert a lengthy paragraphs between a few short paragraphs. It frees your writing from monotony.

10. A Toast to Yoast

And last but not least, use Yoast Plugin on your WordPress site.

This plugin alone is enough to make me choose WordPress over Blogger any day, any time and twice on a Sunday night.
